On the Main Menu when you click Exit, (regardless of the state of Allow Close) you are asked if you wish to do a shadow backup. This will make a copy of the data files to a folder on your current hard disc in a folder called shadow. Whilst data lose is very rare it is advisable to allow this on a regular basis.
In the Maintenance window the backup button is for Data backup to an external drive, normally USB or Flash Drive. Click on the button and you will be asked to enter the path of the external drive (you will need to find this first from My Computer or Windows Explorer).
Should you choose a wrong path one or both of the following warnings will pop up.
Clicking Okay will return you to the start.
if the drive is not correct you will click Okay and MUST choose Cancel at this next choice question.
Assuming you had no incorrect drive errors selecting Yes will proceed with the Data backup to the Flash Drive.
Selecting No will restore already backed up Data from the Flash Drive.
****Warning**** this will overwrite the existing Data and you should never use without first contact support.
